What a Novel Starter outline contains
Twenty-four chapters, each one load-bearing.

Every chapter arrives with what happens, what it does for the novel that no other chapter does, and how the situation is different at the end of it than at the start. No chapter without a turn.

And a codex beside it
  1. Characters, with wound, want and voice
  2. Places, each with a sensory anchor
  3. Rules of the world and their cost
  4. Timeline, glossary, continuity canon
Sold once

Each title is written for one buyer and retired from the catalogue on the day it sells. It is not reissued, and no one else is holding your plot.

The catalog

Each one is written once and sold once, then retired. What is listed is what is available.

The Salt Verdict

Isavel Rourke, the last tide-binder of a drowned harbor city, is chained by law to Corin Halbrand — the imperial magistrate whose signed order flooded her district and killed four hundred and nine people — because the ruinous magic that ate her home can only be closed by two bound casters, and their binding is spelled to kill whichever one is standing when the other dies.

The Sill of Hab

The catalogue is deliberately short. A title is listed only while it is still unsold, and new ones are announced to the list before they appear here.

The list

Hear about a title before it sells

Every outline and world is sold once. The list is how you find out a new one exists while it is still available — and how to ask about a commission.

Questions

Do I own what I write from it?

Yes. Every purchase carries a broad commercial licence: write, publish and sell any number of novels set in the material, in any language and any medium, and keep everything you earn. Credit is welcome and never required.

How many people buy the same outline?

One. Each title is written once and sold once, and it leaves the catalogue on the day it sells. We guarantee we have not sold it to anyone else and never will.

Can I resell the outline itself?

Yes — the licence is transferable and sublicensable. You may sell or license the material on to other writers, and the model licence you would grant them is included with your purchase. From the moment of sale the exclusivity is yours to keep or to spend.

What files do I get?

A typeset PDF of the outline, a second PDF of the codex and worldbuilding, and the licence. Alongside them you get the same material as plain Markdown with no branding on it at all — the editable source, so you can rename, cut, expand or fold it into something of your own.

Can I change the story?

That is the point. The outline is a load-bearing structure, not a script. Swap characters, genre, setting or ending; the beats still hold. The unbranded Markdown exists so that you can do exactly this.

Outline or world — which do I need?

An outline gives you a plot you can start writing tomorrow. A world gives you a place to set many books: geography, peoples, law, economy, the rules and what those rules did to the society. Writers on a deadline start with an outline; series authors usually start with a world.

Do you take commissions?

A few at a time. Join the list and say what you are writing, and you will hear when a slot opens.
